Is it better to take turkish lira to Istanbul or euro?

we are a bunch of students traveling to istanbul in july 4th. we mostly wanna buy stuff from local or street market and visit cool places of istanbul, and I have heard that some vendors in there over charge people and I have to bargain to buys things for reasonable prices, for that matter is it better to take turkish lira to istanbul or euro in my scenario?
